Happy Friday, friends! How’s your week been? It’s been fabulous here because it finally feels like fall outside! And all the people said AMEN! We had a cold front come through on Monday and it always amazes me how the weather can go from hot to cold in a matter of hours here! Houston is so nutty in the weather department at times. Do you ever feel like this time of year is when your self care kind of gets thrown out the window? I feel like as we gear up for the holiday season, our self care is always one of the first things to go.
Today, I wanted to share a few of my self care tips and things that I really try to do to not let myself go. Working out in some sort of capacity is one of those tips and ironically, for me, it’s usually one of the first things to get put on the back burner. Whether I am working out or just running around town, my comfortable shoes are key outfit components. I’m super excited to partner with Finish Line on today’s post to share more about my self care tips. As you know, Finish Line is my go to for fun shoes. They have such an awesome selection and over the years, I’ve ordered some of my favorite athletic shoes from them! I have recently been experiencing some back issues and have been in search of shoes with more cushion for walking and just cruising around town. I was thrilled to be able to try this pair of adidas PureBOOST GO Running Shoes and couldn’t get over the comfort of them. I am just wishing I had this pair for Disneyland a few weeks ago. I think I really needed that extra cushion. Whether I am working out or in this case, faking out, as I call it, my goal is to look cute, but to always be comfortable. I paired these shoes with this top that everyone loves!
Do you have this top yet? I think I might have been the last person to own one, but oh how I love it! I wish I didn’t wait so long because it’s such a great top! It’s perfect to wear to the gym, but also great to sport around town, like I’m wearing it here. These leggings are cute and a perfect basic black leggings! Of course, when I saw this camo hat, I couldn’t resist it and lets face it, somedays, we just need to throw on a hat! Some days, just putting on fakeout gear and some makeup is self care enough. As my grandmother always said lipstick makes everyone feel better. Check out more of my self care tips below!

Having comfortable shoes is super important when taking care of yourself. If you ever stop to think about how many hours we spend on our feet a day, a week, it’s almost imperative to have comfortable shoes. This is something that I am serious about as I have gotten older. These shoes come in 5 color options. I actually didn’t own a pair of black sneakers, so I chose that color, but had to grab the black with with the pop of pink on them. I loved them so much! They also come in peach, black/grey, solid grey and maroon. So, theres definitely a color for everyone! Like I said, I loved the versatility that this black pair offered and I love that I can wear them to the gym or just running errands around town. They have a BOOST foam cushioned insole and this is the comfort that I spoke to earlier. Whether I am walking, running or just hanging out, these offer tons of comfort and support.
A few more self care tips to get through the busy fall season:
Drink lots of water each day. This is huge for me. On days when I don’t drink enough water, I usually have a headache by the end of the day. I have really made a conscious effort to get enough water. The days that I drink a ton of water, I always feel better.
Take time decompress each day, even for 30 minutes. For me this involves reading a good book at night before bed. Check out my current favorites here. I try to end my day with a few chapters and I seem to sleep way better when I’m not watching TV before bed as well.
Workout in some capacity. A lot of days for me this might just be a walk around the block or a 30 minute spin class on my stationary bike or a BBG workout. It may not be hours of exercise, but it’s something and it really helps with the mood!Wakeup at least 30 minutes early. This has been key for me this school.
Wake up early. I like to wake up, drink my coffee quietly and pray, think and write in my gratitude journal before the morning chaos begins. This has really helped my mornings to be a tad less rushed and if I ever sleep that extra 30 minutes, I usually regret it, as I’m running around the house doing breakfast and trying to get everyone out the door for school. I think it’s super important to not let our well being not get put on the back burner when life gets busy and doing just a few on these items really helps to keep me on track.
