Mr. Fancy said that’s what I should title this post and with how long I’ve been gone, it seemed totally fitting.
How are you, sweet friends?
It’s been awhile, hasn’t it?
I took an unintentional blogging break. The last few weeks have been a whirlwind for me and I have had zero free time to dedicate to this bloggity blog that I love so much. Thank you to those of you who checked in to see if all was okay. You are so sweet. All is well, we’ve just been in the midst of the chaos that is life. 🙂
Here is a little bit of what has been going on with us.
We spent a few weeks in California and had a wonderful trip. It was so good that I didn’t want to leave. I cried the whole way to the airport. I will be doing a recap post on that soon.
We came back to Texas and within a day, we were headed to the urgent care with sweet Reagan, who ended up being diagnosed with Strep Throat. She had such a high fever and it took days for me to get it down. I was so anxious and stressed. Neither of the little presidents have ever had a fever that I couldn’t control with Ibuprofen and/or Tylenol. It scared me. It took her always 72 hours on the antibiotic to be fever-free…for 4 days, her fever was always at least 101.5 and at nights it was in the high 104s. Stressful! Thankfully, once the antibiotics kicked in, she was back to normal. I am thankful for trusting my “mom gut” and rushing her to urgent care. I just knew something wasn’t right.
This past week, we finally moved in Casa De Fancy, as I call it. Although, it is anything but fancy right now. It is covered in boxes and bags and piles of stuff! I have been working on the kitchen since they delivered our things on Friday and there is still so much to do. I so wish that I could snap my fingers and all would be where it needs to be! Wouldn’t that be amazing?! The kitchen is my first priority. Plus, we started the little presidents’ rooms as well. I wanted them to be as settled as possible, until we decided on bedding and furniture for them. Reagan has been doing awesome in her “big bed” as she calls it. I think the full size bed was key for her and sleeping in her own room. She’s staying in bed and actually going to sleep, like she used to. When we saw her crib in the PODS, I asked her if she wanted me to set it up for her (it was always one of her favorite places) and she said no. So, into the attic it went. I have no idea why I can’t seem to get rid of it. But, I can’t.
Saturday night, we had our first home cooked meal in the house and Teddy wanted candles in our dessert. Thankfully, I had unpacked the box with all those kinds of things, earlier that day. Then we sand “happy birthday” to the house. It was a sweet evening in our new place.
The rest of the casa, will slowly but surely be finished. I have had a lot of people request a home tour and I think I will do one eventually. Eventually being the key word. There is so much to be done and so little time, so I will just do it day by day. We were able to dedicate all of this weekend to unpacking and putting things away and doing loads of laundry and loads in the dishwasher! Holy cow, towels and sheets, etc, that were in boxes, smelled rancid. ICK! I am rewashing all the dishes and glasses as well. I just think everything needs to be cleaned after being wrapped in paper and bubble wrap, but that’s a job in itself! As soon, as my kitchen was full of boxes on Friday, I felt the need to begin unpacking immediately. Like I just had to get it finished. My goal was to get the whole kitchen completed on Saturday, but that was way too ambitious and here I am, writing this on a Sunday night, and it’s still not finished. I hate clutter on counters. And my island, countertops and kitchen table are all full of clutter. I’m trying to give myself some grace with this. I know I can’t get it all finished as fast as I’d like. My sister text me and said “Rome wasn’t built in a day. Don’t kill yourself.” She’s right.
The little presidents have enjoyed playing with toys that have been packed away since right after Christmas and they have been resting a bunch too. I said “working hard or hardly working?” Haha! They have been so happy. I think they are really settling in and loving it here and they are so happy to have all their things back.
Like I said, most of my kitchen is a mess, but this little coffee/wine corner, otherwise known as, my essentials corner, makes me oh so happy.
Well, that’s all for now. I promise to be back more often, like usual, as we get into a new routine here! I’ll be back tomorrow with a super fun new cocktail recipe!
I just wanted to say I’m so thankful for all of you for reading and following along! XOXO!
