Hello lovelies! Happy Friday! This post was inspired by a craving that I had last night and I decided that I just had to share with all of you before the weekend! Have you ever tried bacon wrapped dates?!! I am pretty much obsessed with them! The little presidents had breakfast for dinner last night, so since the bacon was out, I decided to pop a few little apps into the oven for me to enjoy during my wine-ing. 🙂 These are so simple and so delish. I guess in all reality, they make more sense to make for a party or small get together, but hey, a craving is a craving and the bacon was already out of the fridge!!!!!! I just had to do it!
fancy dates
bacon
fun toothpicks (these were found at Target back in May)
Pre-heat your oven to 475 degrees. Cover a baking sheet with foil. Then, all you need to do is take the pits out of the dates (unless you bought pitted dates!) and then wrap them in bacon. I couldn’t post a pic of raw bacon. It looks too gross! Ha! I cut the pieces of bacon in half. A half a piece of bacon fits perfectly around one fancy date! Bake them for about 10-20 minutes. You really just have to watch them. You can flip them halfway through to avoid burning them on one side, but it’s not totally necessary. I like them crispier, so I usually skip that step! My oven typically takes 20 minutes…baking time will depend on your oven!
I don’t stick the fun toothpicks in until after baking~hello fire hazard!!! If you use plain toothpicks, you can definitely add them before you bake! Now you are ready to enjoy these little bites of bacon wrapped deliciousness!!!
I hope you have the most fabulous and blessed weekend! Shower the dads in your life with lots of love…maybe even make them some of these bacon wrapped dates. They will be a huge hit!!! I am sure of it! Cheers to the weekend!!!
I love it!!! You have great ideas! Happy Friday! CHEERS!!!
Thank you Lori! xo!
These are similar to a fave appetizer I make for tailgate & ho look is at parties. They’re called Devils On Horseback. You just stuff the dates with blue cheese then wrap in bacon and bake. Both recipes are divine!
*holiday parties* Oy I hate the auto-correction on my Kindle…
Gotta love autocorrect! ha!
Yum, Allyson!!! That sounds so good!!! Love the name too!!! xo!
There is a local restaurant here that serves these and calls them Cheap Dates. They are our favorite appetizer! They are made the same way, except they stuff the date with a little gorgonzola cheese and cream cheese mixture! Yum!!!
Oh my gosh Jennifer! That sounds so delish!!!!! Yum! I might have to attempt that myself!!! And I love the name! xo, Ashley
