reagan’s fancy fiesta

Hey there lovelies! Happy Thursday! I was ready for the weekend on Monday morning this week! Ha!

We had a wonderful time celebrating Reagan’s birthday this past weekend. I had originally planned on going nuts and inviting a lot of people, but we decided at the last minute to invite only a couple close friends and family. I am really glad that I did that. It completely took the pressure off me and I was able to enjoy the party. I’m sure by next year, Reagan will have more of a say it what goes on and who she wants to invite, but for now this worked for me. I had a lot of plans that didn’t end up happening and things that got changed at the last minute. Instead of beating myself up over that stuff, I am thrilled that Reagan had an amazing afternoon celebrating her birthday! In her eyes it was perfect and that’s all that matters. 🙂

The jumpy was delivered early in the am on Saturday because when I ordered it, it was back when we were planning to have a bunch of people and have a mid am party. The little presidents took advantage of having a jumpy in the yard all day. Reagan cried hysterically when they picked it up that night and the next am she went into the backyard asking “where jumpy go?” I would love to have a jumpy in my yard at all times. I can’t even imagine the calories you burn in that thing! So much fun too!LP Jumpy Fiesta

I ordered these mini sombreros. I thought they would be a huge hit and I couldn’t resist putting them on the wieners. They were thrilled! Can you tell? Ha!

In standard Ashley form, I wanted was a pic of all of us dressed in our fiesta ensembles! Well, you know how that typically ends for us! It was a mess! Teddy was in a cactus cooler and Reagan was throwing a fit! Real life right here. My hubs wore this hilarious poncho and Teddy wore a serape. Reagan wore her special birthday dress and my dress is one of my fave ever airport purchases. Yes, you heard me correctly, I bought this in a little shop in the tiny Cabo airport! Wish I’d bought more than one!

I did get this one of Teddy and me and I love it! His outfit cracked me up! It came with this mustache! How funny is that?!

We originally planned to have a taco truck come but after I decided to just invite family, I figured we would just cook ourselves and keep the menu simple and delish. Ever since Teddy’s last party, I had decided that I would never cook at a birthday party again, but this meal was really low maintenance. We did carnitas and homemade pinto beans (two of our fave recipes), along with fresh salsa and guacamole and chips! My hubs, the bartender made margs in mason jars. They were a hit.

Two days before the party, I decided to just make my own cupcakes. We usually order from a bakery but I didn’t feel like driving 25 min each way to pick them up on the day of the party. Looking back, I wish I’d just done it because I was still frosting cupcakes when the party started. Oh well, you live and learn. I made the little toppers and just used gold cupcake liners. They weren’t a work of art by any means but I thought they turned out pretty cute. 🙂

I think my fave food item from the party were the cookies from the amazingly talented Holly. I can’t get over how amazing her cookies are decorated and how delish they taste. I love them. Seriously, you could spend hours looking through her blog or insta pics and be amazed with her creations. Such talent. This set of cookies is probably my favorite set ever! The gold sombreros with Pom-Poms and the monograms with Pom-Poms are my favorite! They were so Reagan and me!

Reagan LOVED the cookies! She had to have one after her cupcake. 🙂

I kept the decor pretty basic. I saw a similar floral arrangement on an insta pic of Jenny’s from a fiesta they were having and loved it! Such a great idea!!! I  knew I had to try and recreate it for Reagan’s fiesta! I used large Ball jars and it was a tad hard to get the limes in but I do love how they turned out! I added a mini sombero to the top of each one! Why not?! I also had mini piñatas and a little jars of maracas around. I added little Pom-Pom tiaras to most of the piñatas the night before the party and love how they turned out. We still have maracas all over the house! The little presidents are having too much fun with them!

We, aka my hubs, hung this portada on our outside pergola and I love how it looks. I think I might keep it up year round. They are a plastic-type material so I think they’ll last a bit. We shall see. Love the colors!

When I was ordering party stuff online, this donkey backdrop came up on my computer and Reagan flipped over it and said she needed a “horse and guitar!” I thought it would be such a funny addition to our decor. My plan was to take a picture of everyone who came with it but that didn’t happen. As always, when I go through my pictures from that night, I realize I didn’t take near enough. That always seems to be the way, doesn’t it? I tried to keep my phone with me a lot so I could take pics at any moment but I still didn’t get as many as I hoped.

As always, the jumpy was a huge hit. Even with the adults. I love a good jumpy! Clearly. That’s me in the top left corner.

The birthday girl had the best time.  I am still in shock that she is two. I can’t believe how quickly time is flying.

I love this picture that I took of my three faves relaxing outside, the morning after the fiesta.

I’ll leave you with my third child aka Reagan’s BFF, Boo. He was all set for the fiesta. 🙂
