Welcome to the treehouse! A little background on this…I have always wanted a treehouse. I think they are pretty much the coolest thing ever. I knew that the little presidents needed one. We had a little patch of trees in our yard that I call “the mini forest” and I just knew it would be perfect for a treehouse! Of course, my first instinct was for me and Mr. Fancy to build it ourselves. He was like “NO WAY!” So, we hired a contractor. I had seen lots of fun ideas on Pinterest and ended up showing him a few and drawing a couple things I wanted added and hoping the finished product would work. We had a very specific area that the treehouse needed to fit, so it was a challenge to figure out the measurements. We have a tree going right through the inside. Our contractor thought we would want to cut it down, but we wanted to keep it! It is a treehouse after all! I love the tree on the inside! It’s one of my favorite things about this space! I originally wanted it completely closed off with a door. Mr. Fancy said we needed to keep a part of it open so that we could keep an eye on the little presidents and friends when they’re out there. As usual he was right and I’m glad we did keep it open. I asked our contractor to build a bunch of shelves on the inside for all the things that Teddy and Reagan collect and for anything I wanted to add to them as well. The building was pretty cool to watch. It was neat to watch this vision that we had discussed for months, come to life. Since this was a Christmas present from us, we completely tarped off the yard and told the little presidents that people were working on the trees. Ha! I kept all the shades down for the week while they built it as well. Our plan was to surprise them with it on Christmas Eve. The guy was running behind, so I was out there staining and helping paint, the day before! Then it took me awhile to get all the lights and garland up. There is electricity out there, so all the little presidents have to do is flip a switch to turn on all the lights. It’s really so neat. I keep joking that I am going to have my girlfriends over for wine night out there, but honestly, it would be pretty fun! It turned out way bigger than we anticipated as well…that’s the issue with just flying by the seat of your pants! Ha! But, I think the size is great. We knew we wanted to add a swingset portion because, why not? I wanted lots of color which I brought in with the garlands and the chairs. I just wanted it to be a super fun space! I also had to add my signature marquee letters out there as well. I have these in as many rooms as possible in our house. Both Teddy and Reagan love to swing, so it just made sense. All in all, this treehouse is one of my favorite projects ever. I love the outcome and so do the little presidents. It’s truly a space that I can see them using for years and years.

What a fabulous space!! I would love to have a place like that for the little. Maybe someday when we move a little further out of the burbs. My favorite part is all of the garlands and how you ought to put the shelves for their special finds!
