Happy Wednesday, friends! I hope your week is going well. I am super excited to be back today and partnering with Amazon to tell you all about the Echo Dot Kids Edition. We seriously love these and use them on a daily basis! I’m so excited to bring you this post in December because the Echo Dot Kids Edition makes an amazing Christmas gift!! Teddy and Reagan are obsessed with them. The Echo Dot Kids Edition has also made my life as a parent so much easier! No more screaming for the kids to come down for dinner and snacks. You can use the Echo Dot Kids Edition in partnership with your own Echo Dot (I have and love this one) as an intercom! This is one of the coolest features in my opinion, but there are so many other amazing and useful ways to use them! Some of our favorite features of the Amazon Echo Dot Kids Edition:
Intercom system- Aka a parent’s dream. Alexa can call the kids rooms and I’m not having to scream from downstairs that dinner is ready! Use these in collaboration with your own Echo Dot.
Alarms- Alexa will set an alarm to wake the kids up for school. This is perfect if your kiddo is wanting extra responsibility. Teddy loves to set a morning alarm.
Jokes- Alexa hands the mic off to Jimmy (Fallon) and he will tell the kids all sorts of hilarious and of course, kid-friendly jokes.
Music- My kids love to listen to music. There are settings to be sure they are only listening to appropriate music. We also got an Amazon Music subscription so that we could have access to lots of more music and now we are able to make playlists, etc. This is an amazing feature if your kids like music (and mine sure do!) It’s such a great alternative to a music device or phone, which we are nowhere near ready for! Also, the included 1-year FreeTime Unlimited subscription contains a variety of thousands of songs from ad-free radio stations and playlists from lots of kids hit stations (see more here). That being said, we love it and use it daily because I also use it on my Alexa!
Stories- Alexa will read stories!FreeTime Unlimited also gives kids access to over 1000 Audible books, including lots of kid favorites!
Spelling- Reagan loves to write stories and she is always looking to Alexa to help her spell things. She uses this feature almost as much as the music feature!
Parent Dashboard- Use the online Parent Dashboard to review activity, pause Alexa, and set daily time limits at bedtime or throughout the day. Parents can filter explicit songs from Amazon Music and voice shopping is turned off to help prevent unexpected purchases. Alexa even provides positive feedback when kids ask questions and remember to say ‘please.’
