Fancy Green Smoothie Recipe

Happy Friday!!!!

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your friends and family!

We sure did!

Did you stuff yourself full of all the delish and rich food?

I did! I always say I’m not going to and then I always do! Blah!!!!

I figured this recipe would be perfect to share as we head into the holidays…lots of sweets and rich food will be consumed and this year, I’m excited to have this recipe to help balance all my food groups out!

Rewind to a few weeks ago when I decided I needed to add more fruits and veggies to my diet.

Most days I don’t even eat until 2 pm because my mornings are so rushed. It’s so bad and I knew that I needed a little change.

Drinking the fruits and veggies seems to be the easiest and quickest way for me to get a lot of my servings in!

I have been trying to perfect my green smoothie recipe over the past couple weeks and finally found one that I love.

You can search the net for recipes and get tons of recipe ideas from others, but in the end, I’ve decided that it’s just a taste game and you just have to try different concoctions until you find one that YOU love.

Well, I finally found a concoction that I love and the FANCY green smoothie recipe was born.

After my coffee, this is my go to, every morning. I actually get excited to make it and drink it. I find myself craving a second one in the afternoon. Pure craziness! I swear, my cheeseburger-loving self, never thought I would or could love a green smoothie. But, I do! It took some perfecting, but I found the perfect ingredients.

Fancy Green Smoothie Necessities:

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Spinach Kale & Chard Mix (Trader Joe's sells an awesome organic mix or I will just use plain kale if that's all I have)
  • 2 tablespoons of chia seeds I use these
  • Juice of 1 lemon you can also use a few drops of a lemon essential oil...this is one of my fave things to add when I'm out of fresh lemons
  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup chopped pineapple I use frozen to make the smoothie super cold
  • 1 apple I typically use green, but will use whatever color apple I have in the house, if I'm out of green
  • 1 pear you know how I love my beloved pears!
  • 1-2 cups of water I typically fill up half the blender with ice cold water

Instructions

Directions:

  1. Throw all the ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth.

I use this blender and LOVE it. It comes with all sorts of gadgets!! So fun! I used to own this blender and know lots of people who love it too! To me, a good blender is key! I need it to be able to chop, blend and pulse all sorts of stuff!

After you blend it all together, pour it into a large mason jar (I always say “everything tastes better in a mason jar!”) and add a FANCY straw to sip it from and ENJOY this delish and HEALTHY concoction!

Because my blender came with fancy personal blender cups (how cool is that?!), Reagan typically makes her own smoothie after I make mine. She adds pineapple, pear, banana, a Trader Joe’s probiotic smoothie and a teaspoon of probiotics (I try to sneak in their probiotic in their smoothies each day!) in her smoothie. She loves to help in the kitchen, so she really enjoys doing this part!

Try the recipe and let me know what you think! I’m experimenting a lot with these green smoothies lately and the possibilities are endless, so I know there will be more recipes to come!

I am also over on the group blog, Every Day Cheer today! I’m sharing a gift guide for the COCKTAIL LOVER in your life AND a Fancy little wish list for moi! Head over there to see all the awesome gift guides that we have posted over the past week!!!

You could try it and see if she understands! Last year (Teddy was 3.5) was the first year that he seemed to understand the concept. He understands it way more this year though!! You could just put your elf out and maybe just leave him in one spot? See if she understands it? 🙂 Teddy still gets confused that our elf leaves each night. Ha!
