My Tips for Keeping The House Clean in the Midst of Back To School Chaos

This post is sponsored by Facebook Marketplace and ShopStyle. I love partnering with brands that I love and trust. Post ideas and opinions are my own.

Hi friends and happy Monday! I hope your week is off to a great start! We had a great weekend! Ours was pretty similar to last weekend. We are really trying to enjoy these quiet Saturdays before soccer starts. It actually starts this weekend, so I’m glad we were able to rest a bit when we did. School is back in full swing and I am exhausted and just trying to balance all the things. You might remember this post last month, where I shared how Facebook Marketplace was helping us keep homework in line! I’m excited to partner with Facebook Marketplace again today to share how I am keeping the house clean and attempting to keep our mornings and nights chaos free during the week. I was thrilled to find that I could purchase all of my favorite cleaning supplies, like this Dyson Vacuum, Seventh Generation Laundry Detergent, Clorox Cleaning wipes and more! One of my main tips for cleaning the house is to use an Echo Dot and blast some music! It helps so much and makes the time pass quickly. One thing is for certain, as much as I am not a fan of doing the dishes, wiping the counters, etc, I always make a point of doing it before I go to bed. I think waking up to a clean kitchen just breeds a better start to each day and it’s really just a great way to get set up for success. Here is a bit about my nightly routine and the items that can be purchased from Facebook Marketplace to help. One of my favorite aspects of Facebook Marketplace is the fact that I can browse my feed, check in with family and friends, and grab cleaning supplies, all at the same time. Talk about efficient! Take a peek into my nightly routine after I do the dishes!

My Nightly Cleaning Routine

Turn on Music

1. Turn on some jams on the Echo Dot! I keep mine right by the kitchen sink, so it’s easy to turn on and easy to get to! I love listening to Vance Joy, Coldplay and Andrew Belle while I clean, but my friend and photographer, Emma, just told me about the “cleaning playlist” on the Echo Dot. It’s such a good one! I swear music just helps to pass the time and makes cleaning a bit more fun.

Vacuum

2. Vacuum the kitchen, family room and table. I know what you’re thinking about vacuuming the table, but it’s reclaimed wood and tends to hold all sorts of crumbs and debris, so I often vacuum it at least once a day, if not more! If the kids are not busy with homework, I will try pass off the vacuum chore to them. George sheds, so I always like to vacuum at least once a day in the main areas…kitchen and family room, to cut down on hair. This Dyson is one of my favorite household items and I legit use it daily…numerous times! It’s worth every penny! I love it!! In this picture, I was legit vacuuming up rubs from breakfast, so proof positive that I truly vacuum this table a ton!

Clean the Countertops

3. Clean the countertops! This is huge! I’m old school and love Clorox products. It’s terrible for my marble, but I feel like those are the only products that I can truly trust to disinfect the counters. I also use these on the floors from time to time…see the picture of me wiping the floor? I’m legit wiping up dog potty (caught in legit action here and looking too happy about it) because someone gets nervous when the vacuum turns on. Ha! #thanksgeorge

Laundry

4. Start a load of towels or laundry. I typically try to do the kids’ laundry 1-2 times a week if I can help it. I always throw it on as I’m cooking dinner or doing the dishes and just feel like its an easy way to get a few things accomplished at once. The nights I’m not doing their clothes, I’ll do bathroom towels, pool towels, kitchen towels, etc. Just whatever is in the laundry room hamper, I will do. Like I said, I don’t have a set schedule, but usually do the kid’s clothes Mondays and mine on Tuesdays and towels, etc the other days. It’s just a good way to keep it from piling up!

Do you do any of these items on a nightly or weekly basis? I’d love to hear what tasks you do to keep the chaos at bay! I’m always looking to add things to my list!!

I hope you have a wonderful day!! XO!

I love your kitchen! I also have open shelves similar to yours and am so happy I went with them. Would love to see a kitchen tour and how you organize things (I can never figure out what to put in lower cabinets vs the open shelves 🙂 Am going to be on the lookout for a Dyson stick vacuum! Looks so convenient
